PROGRAM INFORMATION
Our dynamic learn-to-skate and figure skating programs focus on fun, participation and skill development.
Skaters progress at their own pace using nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods.
Whether you are looking to improve skating skills for figure skating, hockey, ringette or speed skating,
or you wish to skate for recreation, fitness or fun, we can get you there!
All participants working on CanSkate Stage 5 and below must wear a valid CSA approved hockey helmet to participate.
A one-time, non-refundable Skate Canada Membership Fee of $62.70 applies per skater. Skate Canada Membership is valid from September 1 to August 31.
Session times are subject to change based on registration numbers.
Program placement is at the Club's discretion.

LEARN TO SKATE / CANSKATE PROGRAMS
Learn-to-skate programs introduce fundamental skating skills - balance, control, and agility - delivered in accordance with Skate Canada’s high standards. Group lessons are led by nationally certified Skate Canada coaches and supported by trained program assistants, using circuits and stations for effective learning. Skaters develop techniques that prepare them for various disciplines, including figure skating, hockey, ringette, speed skating, and recreational skating. Progress is individualized, following a nationally recognized curriculum and proven teaching methods. As skaters advance through the CanSkate stages, their development is celebrated with ribbons and badges that recognize both progress and participation.
All participants working on CanSkate Stage 5 or below must wear a valid CSA approved hockey helmet and proper figure or hockey skates to participate.

Pre-CanSkate / CanSkate 1
Tuesdays - 5:00pm to 5:45pm
This 45 minute learn-to-skate program is designed for new and and returning skaters who meet any one of the following:

- 4 to 6 years old with little or no experience on the ice
- Working to complete the CanSkate Stage 1 badge

Skaters must be 4 years old by December 31.
Skaters develop essential ice safety and movement skills through engaging, age-appropriate games and activities. Skaters gradually master more advanced techniques that prepare them for a range of skating disciplines.
CanSkate 2 - 6
Tuesdays - 5:45pm to 6:30pm
This 45 minute learn-to-skate program is designed for new and returning skaters who meet any one of the following:

- Have completed the CanSkate Stage 1 badge

Skaters build on basic skills through age-appropriate games and activities, gradually mastering more advanced techniques that prepare them for a range of skating disciplines. Skaters have the opportunity to transition into STARSkate as they advance.
Teen & Adult Skate
Tuesdays - 6:30pm to 7:20pm
This 50 minute learn-to-skate program is designed for new and returning skaters who meet any one of the following:

- 12 years or older who would like to improve their skating skills

Skaters begin by developing essential skills for safe and effective movement on the ice, then progressively build on these fundamentals - mastering advanced techniques that support participation in a variety of skating disciplines. The program features a blend of group instruction and independent ice time to foster skill development.
This program operates alongside our Pre-STARSkate and STARSkate programs, offering skaters a seamless opportunity to transition into STARSkate as they advance.
LEARN TO FIGURE SKATE / STARSKATE PROGRAMS
Learn-to-figure skate programs introduce skaters of all ages to the figure skating essentials delivered in accordance with Skate Canada’s high standards. Sessions are led by nationally certified Skate Canada coaches and supported by trained program assistants, using group classes and lessons for effective learning. Skaters develop techniques that prepare them for various disciplines - singles, pairs, dance, and synchronized skating. Progress is individualized, following a nationally recognized assessment standards. Assessment costs are not included in program registration fees.
Multiple skating sessions offer flexible registration options to accommodate different skill levels, training goals, and scheduling needs. Off-ice training focuses on activities like stretching, creative movement, goal setting, jump and spin techniques, and strength and conditioning to enhance skaters' on-ice performance. These activities improve flexibility, coordination, balance, and overall fitness, which are essential for executing figure skating elements effectively.

Flexible Registration Options
Skaters can register for any number of sessions that align with their personal training goals and scheduling needs.
No minimum commitment is required.
Mondays
On-Ice Training - 4:15pm to 5:05pm
Off-ice Training - 5:15pm to 5:45pm
Tuesdays
On-ice Training - 6:30pm to 7:20pm
Pre-STARSkate, STARSkate, and Teen & Adult Skate programs share the ice during the Tuesday session.
Wednesdays
On-ice Training - 5:00pm to 5:50pm
Off-ice Training - 6:00pm to 6:30pm
Pre-STARSkate
This 50 minute session is designed for skaters who have completed the CanSkate Stage 3 badge.
Skaters advance through the CanSkate program mastering more advanced techniques that prepare them for STARSkate. This program operates alongside our STARSkate and Teen & Adult Skate programs, offering skaters a seamless opportunity to transition into STARSkate as they advance. Skaters enrolled in Pre-STARSkate are encouraged to participate in off-ice sessions.
Sessions are led by nationally certified Skate Canada coaches and supported by trained program assistants, using group classes and lessons for effective learning.
All participants working on CanSkate Stage 5 or below must wear a valid CSA approved hockey helmet and proper figure skates to participate.
STARSkate 1-5
This 50 minute session is designed for skaters who have completed the CanSkate Stage 6 badge.
The STARSkate 1-5 program encompasses both on-ice and off-ice training. On-ice skaters are introduced to the the five disciplines of figure skating - Skills, Freeskate, Dance, Synchronized Skating and Artistic. At the learn-to-train stage of Skate Canada's Long-term Development Sport Pathway, off-ice training plays a vital role in complementing on-ice instruction. It enhances physical literacy, body awareness, and coordination, supporting overall skill development. Skate Canada strongly encourages integrating off-ice activities as a key part of STARSkate training.
